Sentimental yet sardonic [userpic]

New Joss/Eliza Dushku tv series.

November 1st, 2007 (09:10 am)

Over at E Online they have interviews up with Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku about a new TV show they're doing for Fox which already has a 7 episode commitment.

This is how Fox describes the show:

"Dollhouse is about "Echo (Eliza Dushku), a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the 'Dollhouse', with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse."

I'm reminded a little too closely of Warren's plans for Katrina, the Buffybot, and April. I can definitely see there being a BIG backlash against this one if Whedon gets the tone even slightly wrong.

As there should be. I was also reminded of The Pretender by a friend.

Oh wait.

Whedon? Minear? Dushku? FOX?

I hereby rename the series "Cancelled in Three Episodes.

i concur with Foe.

but of course, because its Whedon and Minear, I am prepared to abandon my Fox ban, watch the show, and be heartbroken when it does get cancelled in three episodes.

I keep thinking it will be like Alias, except with downloadable personalities and abilities.

I approve of this.

Especially if we get an unending series of goofy wigs on Eliza!

This will be a tricky one to pull off, but if it works it could be great. Reminds me a bit of the movie "Paycheck." I will be looking forward to it.
