Today's update from the floods

July 24th, 2007 (10:03 am)

Power station saved from flood water. So thankfully, we still have electricity flowing around most places here - and the internet is obviously safely back for me too. In fact, the one power station that did get turned off is now back online.

The main problem here is the water supplies still. The mains supply is now totally turned off with no water left in the pipes as far as I know. I shall probably take a stroll very soon to find out where my nearest bowser water tank is, as I'm okay presently for water (still got contents of immension heater to slowly use up) but later mey be a problem.

*waves at all* Still alive, hydrated and getting a little stinky.

Good to know. I was getting a bit concerned about you. Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink. We are miraculously unaffected by all the rain which makes a pleasant change.

Suggest that if your house is likely to get flooded you start shifing things you don't want to lose upstairs.

Do you still have my mobile number? You're very welcome to text me if you can't update and I'll let ppl know you're OK.

Booster Stylish

Unfortunately, I'm in a ground floor flat. No stairs, no upper levels at all.On the other hand, I do have a ramp to get up to even enter the block, and another step up to get into the flat. So it's got to be about a foot deep here even after it gets high enough to break the barriers.

*huggles* Thanks!

Good to see you're keeping af...you know, I was typing that honestly, but let me try again. ;)

Good to see you're managing ok over there, if a little waterlogged.

I'm actually feeling a little guilty posting about my woes when I know other people I work with for example are much worse off.

No waterlogging in my area so far. *crosses fingers* I suspect it's a side benefit of the precise location where I live - 5 minutes walk from the County's main hospital, 15 mins walk from the centre of the city and slightly on/near a hill.

Yes, I imagine you *are* getting a little stinky. Your water woes suck.

You only have to imagine it.
