Masterful plot, or Doctor Who season two news

August 24th, 2005 (10:00 pm)

current mood: chipper

Putting a few Doctor Who related things together :

Scanning the new Doctor Who annual (woo-hoo!), in a background article regarding the Time War, and written by Russell T Davies :
And far away, across the universe, on the planet Crafe Tec Heydra, one side of a mountain carries carvings and hieroglyphs, crude representations of an invisible War. The artwork shows two races clashing, one metal, one flesh; a fearsome explosion; and a solitary survivor walking away from the wreckage. Solitary? Perhaps not. Under this figure, a phrase has been scratched in the stone, which translates as: you are not alone.

Jon Pertwee usually faced the Delgardo Master.

Peter Davison usually faced the Ainley Master.

Production members have indicated that Anthony Stewart Head will be appearing in the Episode School Reunion as the Headmaster.

Call me incredibly suspicious here.

By the way, School Reunion has been confirmed to have both Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 in it. Captain Jack, unfortunately, won't be back until the third season.

And let's not forget Torchwood - this year's Bad Wolf. Interestingly, it's not only an anagram for Doctor Who, but the BBC have registered a torchwood web address. And best of all? It's already appeared in season one - as the answer to one of the questions on the Weakest Link.

Let the speculation begin....

Ace Rimmer Jack

That's from Russell T Davies himself, so unless they're running disinformation, it's gospel. *sigh*

Hmm, that first bit sounds a lot like the planet where Leela came from. If this is bloody obvious, forgive me since I've not seen those episodes in roughly a decade. ;)

And there was a rumour running around about someone working on a morph from Ainley's head into Head's...head.

Hmmm... will have to look for that rumour then. Interesting.

And Leela's home world was never named, btw.

*nods* I seemed to remember it not being named. But there was the whole robot vs. human thing, and the giant carved head of Tom Baker.

I must say I'm surprised that they're referring to Ainley's head and not Eric Roberts'... I didn't think they'd be so blatant as to specifically repudiate Grace: 1999, which may not have set the world on fire but wasn't that bad.

And as for Torchwood being an anagram... either the Master showing up this next season is this decade's worst kept secret or else there's a big misdirection going on.

The first bit doesn't remind me so much of Leela's planet as it reminds me of ancient Egyptian ruins and that sort of stuff. But I'm all for it if it means there will be people around with Leela's dress sense.

And yay!! for the return of K-9. Wonder if he still runs off a couple of motor cycle batteries...
