Last year, Jack had taken them all white water rafting. They'd all emerged soaking wet, wanting to kill him, and silently swearing never to let him pick the summer get together again. The year before, Teal'c had taken them all on a spiritual retreat on PS-10645, where they'd found a Goau'ld invasion fleet refueling.
All things considered, Carter's suggestion of hot air ballooning had seemed fairly safe.
There was just the small problem of their planet's base camp being wiped out by a sneak Goau'ld mothership, and their only means of escape being the barely set-up balloon. Which now explained just they found themselves drifting out to sea in a very strong wind.
So naturally the slow leak in the balloon was not entirely unexpected by the pessimists on board. Throwing whatever loose objects (including the guns, much to Colonel O'Neill's objections) were lying around overboard reduced the weight somewhat, but not enough.
"It would appear that the only remaining objects in this basket would be ourselves, O'Neill," remarked Teal'c impassively.
