Sentimental yet sardonic [userpic]

Quick fic pimp, and a mini-rant

June 1st, 2005 (11:15 pm)

Gods and Monsters - a post-Never Fade Away fic, where things have gotten even worse since Angel's last stand, Faith is sent around central America on a never ending spiral of Slaying, desperately trying to keep a lid on the area and sebsequent tensions. Battered, bruised, always tired, Faith sees someone she knows is dead....

Marvelously lyrical in places, deeply touching and absolutely absorbing.

Gods and Monsters parts 1 and 2 can be found here, part 3 here and part 4 here.

Trust me - read this.

And anyone who was hoping for a reasonable adaptation of Alan Moore's V For Vendetta might as well give up now. Here's a sample of the dialogue as written by the Wachowski brothers.

Here is, word for word, the speech written for V when first meeting Evey.

He indicates his mask

"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vangquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

Are you like, a crazy-person?

Add in that X-Men 3 is now looking for their third director, it's not looking too good for comic related films in the near future. Bring on Batman Begins!

Batman Begins

Words cannot convey how bad that dialogue looks.

Are we certain that Nancy Holder didn't write that? Sorry, after what I've heard about what she's written for Queen of the Slayers, I thought there couldn't be much worse. And yet, there it is.

Oh dear God! Words can not describe how bad that is.

I think it's time for filmmakers to give up the whole comic book thing and start looking for something original. I mean, seriously, how many original movies are out there these days? Most are sequels, prequels, comics, remakes, tv shows, or historic flicks. It's almost as bad as the music industry.

That is atrocious. (Was gonna say vile, with no thought of humor, but then my keyboard screamed in pain.)

And I really should watch the rest of Angel so I can read fics like this, but I lost interest sometime in Season 3 and just can't get it back. *blush*
