Fundamentalist Christian film reviews

April 18th, 2005 (10:53 pm)

I'm sure we’ve all been waiting for the one review of Sin City (see below from Mike) that matters. The one from CAPAlert, the fundamentalist Christian website that reviews most released movies to see if they’re scripturally acceptable. Mary Poppins scored 100. CAPAlert reviewed the film ET, with the phrase "I am not going to get into a debate about the evilness of levitation", giving the film an amber light warning and a score of 83. The Incredibles? Red light and 68. Dogma with its atheist-preaching angels, Catholic buffoonery, abortion-clinic-working relations to Jesus? 6.

Sin City scored 0.

not evil

Levitation by alien=bad - Levitation by woman=good? I mean I love Mary Poppins but er....hello. Oh wait a minuute!! I am assuming logic is involved!
*I is such a stoopidhead*

I also note that the Harry Potter use of 'magic' is bad. While Mary could very well be 'angelic'.

Btw, have just terrified Ves by implanting Spider Jerusalem porn images in her head.

"Filthy Ass-istants! It's time to prepare my column of throbbing truth to be delivered to the m-asses!!"

Faith - Kiss My Ass [jennymalfoy]

Yo, Boy Genius. YOU live near me. I SEE you all the time - in person. Ergo, I can hit you and have no qualms about doing so.

Why do you persist in these futile attempts to scar my tender psyche? Sad part is - you do that all the time without even trying. It's just one more reason why I love you - you nutball.

WAIT! I can see you are trying to protest your innocence. Three words, 'hero. Three words.

*falls over laughing* Only you, 'hero. Only you. :D

That must have been why I liked it so much. Heh.

Wait a minute — Mary Poppins flew around with an umbrella, and she didn't get points off for that? Hypocritical bastards.

Anyway, if I hadn't already seen Sin City and fallen in love with both Hartigan and Marv, the score would have convinced me to run out and see it.

They say it's because her powers might have been angelic.

I always figured that she was a witch (a la Willow). I mean, have you read the books?

Not Angelic.

At all.

Not Particularly Demonic, either.

And she uses her powers for good AND for awesome.

Wow. I liked The Incredibles, but after a review like that... I want to see it again.

Someone must have been seeing a much naughtier movie than me. (Devil baby!)

Sin City - Guh [beerbad]

Sin City scored lower than Dogma? OH - the fundies. That's why. Makes a bit of a difference when much of the theology being lampooned isn't "yours". That Protestant/Catholic divide is a bottomless chasm sometimes.
