Just thought you might be interested in just how busy the mail gets around Christmas.

Amount of Mail going through the machines:

Ordinary week day - about 80K.

Ordinary Monday - 130-140K.

Last Monday (first day of Christmas pressure) - 296K.

Yesterday (busiest day of year) - 270K minimum on our shift plus 163K that Mornings did. No idea yet on Nights.

This is why I tend to sleep through the actual Christmas Day a lot. :)

Edit/Update: we're still running the mail from yesterday right now. Add another 308K onto yesterday's total to cover for the amount ran from 6am to 5pm today - and we're still going!

It's actually gotten worse today. We are still running the left over work from Monday!

Ouch.

It's like when I was at school, everyone would panic revise for tests, cramming at the last minute. If people didn't panic buy presents at the last minute, things would be simpler. Yeah, you'd still have your cards and stuff, no mass panic buys from moonpig, amazon, et al.

You'll be pleased to know that this year I remembered to buy proper size cards rather than those diddy ones that jam up the rollers :-D
