Sentimental yet sardonic [userpic]

June 20th, 2009 (10:24 am)

I sometimes wonder about the people I work with. This is an actual conversation from earlier this week, with the names removed to avoid embarassing Helen too much.

H : Oh look, is this the new stamp thats just come out? Wonder what it is?
Me : It's a mermaid.
H : Oh? How can you tell?
Me: *raising eyebrow* It says so. On the stamp. There, at the bottom.
H: Oh yes, silly me. *starts takes out glasses* Wonder how they got that photo?
Me : ............
Me : ............
Me : ......It's not a photograph.
H : Oh? How can you tell?
Me : .....oh look, there's some work piling up for me over there.

~ + ~

And in other news, Together Again For The First Time, parts 7 and 8 (Ten, Dawn, rated 15, Buffyverse/Doctor Who cross) is up.

Outer Space

And, yet, we're delusional because we write fanfic?????
Go figure.

And, BTW, I resent the fact that she shares (co-opts) five-sevenths of MY name!

Until you start to actually feel the IQ drain, I think you'll be alright.

And very nice stamps they are too, especially the presentation pack with the Gaiman stories. The next 50 1st class letters I send will have dragons or unicorns on them.

Unicorns are the nicest I think, but the dragons are close behind.

But, how'd they get that photo? I heard Unicorns are camera shy.

The photographer brought his virgin daughter to the stakeout with him.

Surely you've heard - they found an actual mermaid off the coast of Atlantis! Or not. *g*

lots of planets have a south

I actually tried to order one of those with-additional-stories-by-Neil-Gaiman packs of the stamps. It took me a couple of weeks' worth of sending "oi, your web site won't work!" emails to Somewhere In Britain before they actually officially told me that I had ordered one (and reversed all but one of the multiple charges the buggers had put on my credit card).

Reading the LJ feed of Neil Gaiman's blog it seems I wasn't the only one who had problems... apparently everyone in the rest of the world is supposed to have British style phone numbers (we don't) or postcodes (we don't either) or else Things Don't Work.
