Worst Cover Songs Ever

July 15th, 2008 (11:10 am)

Meant to mention this last month, but there was a recent poll (again) on the world's worst Cover versions.

1) Celine Dion - You Shook Me All Night Long (Originally by AC/DC).

2) Sugababes/Girls Aloud - Walk This Way (Aerosmith/Run DMC).

3) Westlife - More Than Words (Extreme).

4) Will Young - Light My Fire (The Doors).

5) Mike Flowers Pops - Wonderwall (Oasis).

Though personally, I'd have added Ronan Keating's "Fairytale Of New York" to that list. Anyone who can change the line 'You cheap, lousy faggot' to 'you're cheap and you're haggard' because he 'wouldn't want to offend anyone' deserves it.

No, no, no... the worst cover song ever, is probably an Estonian cover of Hard Rock Hallelujah...

Wait... Westlife did "More Than Words"?

That was an awful song to begin with.

Fangirl Discretionary Warning

May I add the Starz on 54's popped up dance re-mix of Gordon Lightfoot's If You Could Read My Mind?

madness

A group, the name I'm not absolutely sure of (it might have been "Times Two") released an absolutely wretched version of Simon and Garfunkel's Cecilia a few years back. Apart from anything else, at one point the synthesizers (yes!) were audibly out of tune (even to my not particularly expert ear...) Just painful to listen to.
