Ireland takes the piss....

February 26th, 2008 (11:12 am)

Ireland's Eurovision entry this year will be sung by a turkey.

No, really...

And although the article doesn't mention it, he's had at least one other album out called Poultry In Motion.

Brilliant!

That's not a turkey... The guy with his hand up the puppet's ass is the turkey.

[shakes head]

<Irish accent>
Oh, Ireland, what have ye done? I'll not be forgivin' ye of this soon, I'll tell ye that!

Poultry in Motion?

[snerks]

Poul-et-ry in motion
Walking by my side
His gawky locomotion
Keeps my eyes open wide
Poul-et-ry in motion
See his lurchy sway
All waves out in the ocean
Would never move that way

Yeah Dustin also Made a write in bid for President!

Basically he has being a mainstay of children's television since (and i am trying to remember so i may be wrong) since 1993-1994. He has had three or four charity albums over that time.

It is not that we take it seriously, its just we no longer give a damn about Eurovision, and so we have something that shows how much we care :)

I may never forgive you for those links.

On the other hand, it's currently 33-1 odds that you get the full 12 marks from Turkey (the country). And 2/9 that you get more points than us... :(

I only wish we would treat it the same way. The only reason I've ever watched it is to listen to Terry Wogan's commentary. Surprised any English speakers enter it at all since it seems to be commercial suicide.

Hermione - Know everything

I believe it was Australia one year, who replaced Terry Wogan's commentary with local broadcasters, and got so many complaints that they had to reshow it - this time with the Wogan voiceover.

God bless Terry Wogan.

I didn't know that other countries had the joy of his snarky commentary. Guess it figures though. I seem to recall Ireland tried throwing the contest a few years ago after they had hosted for 3 years on the trot because they didn't want to fund it.
