Let It Go, Anya (drabble)

April 21st, 2005 (10:57 am)
amused

current mood: amused
current song: Beatles

Quick drabble, blamed on inspired by and dedicated to speakr2customrs:

It was morning at the Magic Box, and the inevitable clearing up after another research session. Anya found herself gently humming as she restacked her highly expensive and yet reasonably priced volumes.

She suddenly found herself singing.

"When I find myself lost filing,
Looking to put back Beldarcy,
Giles softly murmurs ‘Letter B’,"

She broke off abruptly while everyone else just stared, appalled at her. Particularly Giles.

"Oh, penis!" she swore, "It’s that damned mini-Sweet karaoke demon again!" and then proceeded to list exactly what she’d do when she caught him.

Listening carefully outside, Nutra blanched and departed Sunnydale. Fast.

Maybe now, I can get that bloody Beatles song out of my head.

zFaith - Naked (mine)

And we once again prove that it is almost impossible for you or wildecate to get songs stuck in my head. I know it well enough to sing along but not to have it on repeat.

*feels all proud*

I like violent, war-path Anya. Oh, wait. That's Anya all the time.

Which is why I like Anya, period.

Horses [emmalynne]

Someday someone will perfect psychoanalysis via preferred characters. I suppose that someone will need to be me. It is the only way I will be safe from having my love of Faith peered at too closely.

And we seem to be doing it again - that thing where we fill Booster's inbox while he is not here to defend himself. :P

*looks dubiously at her Black Jewels fic*

*looks at her Star Wars fic and gets really nervous*

Ahem. Er. Moving right along...not sure what my love of secondary and/or fuzzy characters says about me anyway. :-)

And we seem to be doing it again - that thing where we fill Booster's inbox while he is not here to defend himself. :P

Well, what else am I supposed to do with my time? Something productive? Where's the point in that?

Alice - Wild Heart [peaces_icons]

I think your Wilhelmina writings speak quite well of you and your personal character. I am a little worried about me since I adore writing power-crazed bitches who use every ounce of their brains, bodies and mad skillz to get exactly what they want, while mowing down anyone and everyone in their way.

Okay - I don't really wonder. In truth, I envy them some. Yeah, they are miserable human beings, but I bet dollars to donuts they never cry themselves sick over hurting someone's feelings.

And I have no idea what you should do with your time. I should be working - yet here I am. Chatting away. Don't you have stock to replenish??

Thanks on the 'Mina stuff. Personally, I think it's just that I have fun playing with severely messed up family dynamics. Though I've had a heck of a good time de-wussifying poor 'Mina - twenty-five chapters and counting of forcible spine insertion. :-)

So do I, but all in all I like being an introspective/verted geek chick.

Yeah, but oddly enough, getting the last two or three sentences on the vignette I'm working on seems much more important at the moment. (Proof positive about the whole male committment thing: I'm working on a story involving two male characters, and they refuse to be written in anything longer than a vignette. It's annoying.)

It sucks when your characters say what they have to say and then just sit there blinking at you like, "What, woman? We're done".

Best of luck!

Yup. Especially when they're both professionally paranoid. How the bleep am I supposed to set up a friendship between these two when they both assume that anybody who asks a personal question is Out To Get Them? It's ridiculous; I have a whole plotline for these guys, but they refuse to have anything to do with anything so plebian as chapters. They prefer to be dropped into trouble and then gotten out of it again with a minimum of discussion. (Maybe this is my Muse needing a break from Wilhelmina-the-instrospective, I don't know. Except that I've been writing the two stories in parallel, which leads to some interesting mental effects.)

Done ranting now. And it'd be a much more convincing rant if I didn't parade around preening after finishing a super-short story... *sheepish grin*

*thinks it's worth the song-bug to read the drabble*

I love Anya. Have I mentioned that? Especially your Anya.

Is that like your favorite comment ever, or what?

*gives you an odd look and a smile*
